2018 :: A Year in Review
Former front-end dev, now trying his hand at drawing and taking pictures.
Weathering the Storm
We hit the ground running in January of 2018 - projects were moving along seamlessly and we had introduced a new workflow that was working wonders for productivity (from the planning stage right through to post-development).
As we arrived back after the Christmas break we were informed of the sad news that Tristan, our Technical Director was leaving the Doghouse to take up a new role as CTO with TracknStop, this coincided with Sandra, our Project Managers maternity leave with the arrival of Eloise. Who’s just turned one year old as I write this. Happy Birthday, Eloise!!
With all these changes occurring, we decided it was time for a fresh start. The weather had other ideas, snow was general all over Ireland. The arrival of the Beast from the East saw Big Dog pack up the sledges and say goodbye to the seaside Village of Skerries.
The Digital Doghouse
With a new spacious workspace in Santry Central, what we christened ‘The Digital Doghouse’ it was time to welcome some new blood in to fill the space; Developer Tomas Piksrys joined the pack and has been a great fit to the team.
We also welcomed, Cooper. Where do you start to describe Cooper?
Cooper is our new spiritual guide dog. He joined us as a pup and has been the most pleasant and fun dog to have around the office, that is to say, once we got over the minor potty training issues.
Projects from the Doghouse
The Big Dog Team were firing on all cylinders throughout 2018, getting a record number of websites live, including a redesign of our own. We documented this using the hashtag #NeverGoLiveFriday across our social media accounts.
Here is just a selection of some of the sites that went live.
Be sure to follow along in 2019 for regular updates on new work launching. And you can see an overview of all of our work at our Digital Doghouse
2019 :: Talent Garden & Further
2019 brings new beginnings again for the Big Dog Pack, and we’re excited!! Having left Skerries during the worst weather of the year, we found what we hoped would be the location for our Doghouse. Unfortunately, this arrangement in Santry was only temporary.
However, it not all doom and gloom and won’t be moving too far. We’ve closed off an extremely positive year of changes for Big Dog by joining the Talent Garen community. Talent Garden is Europe's leading innovation platform for the digital/tech community with more than 3,500 members Their Dublin Offices are located in the DCU Alpha innovation campus in Glasnevin.
Needless to say, I’m most excited about this move, as these swanky new offices will be a goldmine of content for our social media accounts. Look out for a Snap Happy Cathal in 2019.
Finally, Big Dog has decided to reach further afield and open its first satellite office in Amsterdam. With a growing European base of customers, it seems like the next logical step. More information about this will be covered with a January blog, some of you may have already seen a sneak peek of our recon trip on Instagram.
