Catch-Up

What have we been doing?

Fran is Big Dog's big dog. He runs a tight ship but don't worry, a quick scratch behind the ear and he'll roll right over!

Six Months Later

So, here we are 6-months older, wiser but no blog posts to show for it 🙂 as we continue to lecture clients on the importance of generating new content - it's a case of 'pot calling the kettle black'.

Our excuse? well, we have been flat out busy folks. As you may have seen from our last post (yes, yes the one for 6 months ago) we started 2019 by moving into our new residence at Talent Garden Dublin.

Talent Garden (or TAG) is a co-working innovative space opened in Dublin City University’s Innovation Campus, DCU Alpha. With 3,200 sqm of creative coworking space, event spaces & meeting rooms it has been the perfect place for Big Dog to settle down. It also helps to have the beautiful Botanic Gardens beside us for lunchtime walks and what has to be one of the finest pints of Guinness available in Dublin at 'The Gravediggers'.

We also went a step further this year by opening our first satellite office in Amsterdam. As our client base continues to grow outside of Ireland it seemed like the next logical step. Like Dublin, we opted for co-working space in The Progress Bar situated in the heart of Amsterdam and only a short cycle from Central Train Station.

Projects & Support

Of course, other than moving furniture - we have also been working on projects.

We were delighted to renew our support contract with Glanbia for 2019. Working alongside Glanbia Business Services and their inhouse Digital Team to support their WordPress network. We also had the opportunity to work on a new lifestyle blog for the Country Life brand.

Other projects have included Avonmore Professional, Frontline Security, Localise, CrossFit, SISU, HeartSafety Solutions and Eir. Check out our Case Studies for more information on some of these projects and more.

Heavy Lifting

Early 2019 also saw some heavy lifting of a different sort known as PHP Migration (a.k.a lots of coding. a.k.a pain in the ass).

PHP (the core programming language of WordPress) 5.6 and 7.0 reached 'end of life' in February 2019 meaning they would no longer be supported by PHP, WordPress or Hosting Companies alike.

Support has always been a large part of Big Dogs business and over December, January and February Tomas & Briain on the support team migrated 86 websites over to PHP 7.2 . . . Phew!

Summer Time Round-Up

And here we are now - peak summertime. The Big Dogs have mostly had their holidays in places such as Italy, France, the Canaries and erm Dublin. Today (July 26th) happens to be the 'Talent Garden Tiki Summer BBQ'. Hawaiian shirts are at the ready and there is even a TAG Tiki Summer BBQ Spotify Playlist (check it out).

We have some really exciting projects in the works and we are confident these will be our best to date so check back for updates.
